Three Rooms, One Month: What Founders Asked Us About Raising Funds

Foxhog News: What Questions are Founders Asking Investors?

Foxhog Ventures has had the opportunity to speak to many founders over the last month in three very different pitch sessions. From the Founders × Investors Pitch at NMIMS in Mumbai, the BizOwl pitch review session, and the Investor Summit 2026 in Noida. However, we noticed some common themes!

Theme 1: How much should we raise, and what will we do with it?

Many founders came to talk to us at the Investor Summit 2026. A question that many wanted to ask us was how to determine how much to raise and what they should say about what they will achieve with the funds.

As an investor, always be clear about how much you will be raising and what milestones you will hit with the funds (product development, hiring, new customers).

Theme 2: Is my story clear?

We had a smaller BizOwl session, with only 5-6 founders pitching. This meant we could provide founders with honest feedback on their pitch decks and stories. Tarun Poddar (Founder & CEO of Foxhog Ventures) was in attendance.

Founders were keen to get feedback on if their message was getting across. The session provided a safe environment to practice and identify areas to improve on before a high pressure meeting. [Include a confirmed observation from the session. E.g. Common improvement in their decks.]

Theme 3: How can I get in front of the right investors?

Foxhog attended The Founders as an investment partner, and many founders were looking forward to getting the chance to pitch live to investors. This is because they had the opportunity to get structured in front of people who invest in early-stage companies.

This is especially important for founders in tier 2/3 cities who may not have as many opportunities to meet with investors. They can test their ideas, receive feedback and build relationships.

Top Tips

Across the three events, we noticed a few top tips:

Do your research on the investors and have an understanding of what kind of businesses they invest in.

Be concise and able to explain what the problem is, what your solution is, who your target market is and your business model.

Have your numbers ready. Know your costs, pricing, revenue and what you will do with the funds.

Be open to feedback. Often questions from investors will highlight areas where you need to improve.

Send a professional follow-up. Keep it short and polite.

What We Take Away

Attending these events helps us to stay close to those creating new businesses. Being able to speak to founders means we understand the challenges and opportunities early-stage entrepreneurs face. We also have a better understanding of what questions founders are asking.
